Prepare a set of teacher personas to help an EdTech firm better understand and serve their client base.
Nearpod serves over 400k teachers across 30k+ schools in the United States through a 24/7 online classroom. Despite such a vast and wide-ranging network of users, they strive to maintain a high standard of excellence in human-centered design, creating the need for strong teacher personas to guide their organizational and design efforts.
As with any undertaking involving persona creation, the challenge is two-fold: first, one must compile years worth of customer research and abstract it into the most useful, minimal set of characters to represent the customer base as a whole. But for maximum organizational impact, the results of that demanding critical thinking exercise must be captured, condensed, and communicated across all internal teams to ensure mutual understanding. To effect the latter, we created a series of bold, colorful, heroic characters that reflect Nearpod’s culture of working with kids, as well as their unflinching admiration for the superhero teachers they serve everyday.
